Creating durable impact-resistant frames is nothing new for the Wiley X, Inc. team; it has been developing some of the toughest eyewear for nearly 30 years. The company’s offerings include goggles, tactical eyewear, impact-resistant and fashion-forward sunwear, and even protective gloves. The newest development is a collection of action-ready sports frames to protect young athletes, Youth Force™.
INNOVATION IS KEY
Youth Force is intended for girls and boys aged 6 and up. It consists of four models in 12 exciting colors. Rubber temple tips and soft bridge pads protect the wearer and reduce sliding, especially during active use. What really makes the Youth Force collection unique compared to other sports frames is its proprietary temple-to-goggle conversion design. Not only does each model come with an adjustable strap that can be attached to secure the frame at the end of the temples, each can also be quickly converted from spectacles to full goggles with the push of a button. The included elastic goggle strap is adjustable and fits into the temple port using a curved clip to provide comfort for the head.
Each model of the Youth Force collection is built to last, meeting the rigorous ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) F803 eye protection standards, withstanding projectiles 40-65.1mm in size fired at a rate of 90 mph. The collection passes all ASTM F803 requirements for soccer, tennis, handball, badminton, squash, racquetball, and basketball so you know you can recommend them with confidence to your young clients.
DIGGING DEEPER WX
Flash is intended to fit the smallest of wearers, and WX Victory is a little larger and geared to fit small-to-medium head sizes. Both are available in four color choices and with a 125mm temple length. Getting a little wider, WX Fierce is recommended for medium-size heads; it comes with a 135mm temple and two color options. The largest model is WX Gamer,
designed to fit medium-to-large heads. It, too, comes with 135mm temples and is available in two color choices.
Digital Rx lenses are available for the complete collection through Wiley’s lab in a power range of -10.00D to +5.00D with a cylinder up to -4.00D. They are offered in single vision, with a minimum PD of 52mm.
To help market the frames, Wiley X offers a 12-pair countertop display that spins, making it easier for kids (and their parents) to see the collection. There is also a slick brochure for the collection as well as a set of six colorful countercards. Each frame comes with a Youth Force hard case (including a flat piece on the top that slides out and is a ruler on the other side) and microfiber cleaning bag. Both the ruler and bag are a bright green so kids can easily find them in their sports bags and backpacks.
Wiley X takes its special talent of making remarkably tough eyewear and brings that skill and styling prowess to the kids’ eyewear market.
