Fashion has long played a role in eyewear design and Luxottica’s annual design series for Vogue Eyewear pulls out all the stops. The most recent alliance between Luxottica and the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) stars Charlotte Ronson who, like previous collaborators, had no experience designing eyewear before this.

Inspired by her femininity and sophisticated style, Ronson chose Eva Mendes, Vogue Eyewear’s Global Ambassador, as her inspiration. The eyewear designs portray Mendes’ softer side with scallop detailing, subtle floral prints, and pastel tones. The special edition Charlotte Ronson for Vogue Eyewear collection (including ophthalmics for the first time in the design series) will launch at select Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters stores in January with plans to go beyond that channel starting in March.

The collection was introduced at a gala event in New York City’s Gramercy Terrace that was attended by a host of celebrities including designers Taryn Manning, Annabelle Dexter-Jones, Ann Dexter-Jones, Arden Wohl, and Shoshanna Gross; and actor Shiri Abbleby, among others. The dinner menu was a medley of some of Ronson’s and Mendes’ favorite dishes, served on tables flowing with peonies, Ronson’s flower of choice. All event details, including signature cocktails, were inspired by the eyewear designs.
