Skiers and snowboarders can now do more on the slopes than just go down them-new super-cool functions in Oakley’s Airwave™ technology take recreational winter sports to the next level. The Airwave 1.5 alpine goggle uses wireless technology and a special app that allow the goggle’s live-video, heads-up display to be utilized with the Garmin‘ VIRB™ Elite action camera. A glove-friendly remote enables the wearer to control camera features. In addition, the goggle’s heads-up display, integrating GPS, Wi-Fi, and MiFi Bluetooth, comes with onboard sensors that allow the user to navigate resort maps; see jump analytics, speed, and altitude; control soundtrack; and locate friends on the slopes who have Oakley Airwave goggles or the Recon Engage app on their smartphone. The Garmin VIRB Elite action camera features a built-in GPS, an accelerometer, altimeter, and data that is seen in the display which can be overlaid onto the video recording. It also has a 1.4-in. Chroma display for preview and playback. Aerodynamic and water-resistant with an IPX7 rating, the camera has a rugged design that does not require a case for most activities.
The Airwave 1.5 offers a broader range of connectivity, enhanced graphics, and up to three hours of recording (the longest compared to previous versions) in full 1080p HD video, according to the company.
