This photo clinic shows two ways to replace spring hinge screws using the Hilco Spring Hinge Tool Kit.

While spring hinges are a great benefit to frame design and durability, they can be a challenge when replacing a screw. Hilco’s Spring Hinge Tool Kit overcomes this by providing everything you need to replace the original screw. Follow this step-by-step photo clinic using one of the two techniques shown to get the job done.

Option 1: Mounting with pliers, tweezers and hand tool

1. Hold the hand tool with the temple outside facing the hand tool.

2. Attach the temple onto the pin. Stretch the temple and hold it with one hand.

3. Clamp the hinge on the lowest point close to the hinge.

4. Attach the temple to the frame. Insert the screw and tighten. Release the pliers by pushing the handles together.

Option 2: Mounting with pins, tweezers and hand tool

1. Hold the hand tool with the temple outside facing the hand tool.

2. Attach the temple onto the pin. Stretch the temple and hold it with one hand.

3. Clamp the hinge on the lowest point close to the hinge.

4. Choose the right size pin and place it in the cap between the ring and the hinge.

5. Release the clamped temple from the hand tool.

6. Attach the temple to the frame, insert the screw and tighten. Release the pin.
