HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY, VCPN!
One and a half decades ago, a small yet highly determined group of professionals including Frank Giammanco, Shawn Mery, Ed De Gennaro, and Beth Schlau came together to create an optical magazine to fill a much-needed void. As Frank retells the story this month (see “Then and Now“), the shipment of the first issue got held up in Phoenix, AZ, and almost didn’t make it to Vision Expo West-and that was going to make or break the magazine’s future. In fact, Shawn was about to rent a truck to drive to Phoenix to pick up the issues himself. There was a happy ending to the story, of course. The magazine arrived, the industry loved it, and 15 years later, it’s still going strong thanks to thousands of loyal readers and hundreds of advertisers over the years. Here’s to many more years ahead!
