Since 1986, Wiley X has been the go-to brand for eyewear that can stand up to any task. So trusted are Wiley X’s shatterproof lenses and debris-repelling ventilated frames that they have become standard-issue items for the FBI, Navy Seals, and Special Forces Military Teams (as well as favorites of motorcyclists, race car drivers, and outdoor enthusiasts). Wiley X’s new Black Ops collection combines the company’s signature High Velocity Protection (HPV) with a sleek new aesthetic inspired by covert operators.

THE LOOK
Gone are the glossy rims and highly reflective lenses that were once associated with police and military uniforms. Instead, think fast-action spy thriller. These styles are all matte black, with neutral gray lenses and muted logos. Face-hugging wrap designs secured by rubberized nosepads and temple gloves en-hance the clean silhouette. The result is an undercover feel that proves that, with the right details, covert eyewear can be chic. For military and law-enforcement personnel, the sunglasses are an off-duty pair that complement the frames that they wear on the job. For everyone else, they are a chance to get both top performance and a look that conjures “Men in Black.”

THE TECHNOLOGY
As you’d expect from Wiley X, Black Ops sunglasses are sturdy and meet the ANSI Z87.1-2003
high-impact safety standards. The Rx-ready, lightweight frames are made of Triloid nylon and use polycarbonate lenses with an anti-scratch hardcoat that exceeds the ANSI Z87.1 high-impact safety standards. Vents in the top and bottom of some of the eyewires direct air down and out, creating a ventilation system that lessens lens fogging. Several of the frames include Wiley X’s patented removable Facial Cavity™ Seal, which consists of several layers of foam that line the inside of the frame, encapsulating the orbital areas to block wind, debris, and peripheral light.

Each member of the Black Ops collection is a powerful statement, perfect for active people who have high-tech demands of their sunglasses and like looking sharp as well.
