ANSI SETS NEW STANDARD FOR PRESCRIPTION LENSES. The 2010 ANSI Z80.1 standard for prescription lenses can be purchased at webstore.ansi.org. This update, overseen by the Z80 Accredited Standards Committee for Ophthalmic Optics, serves as a guideline for ECPs and labs, and is relevant to all edged or assembled prescription ophthalmic spectacle lenses as well as uncut lenses supplied by labs for filling prescriptions. Updates include standards for measurement of transmission power, use of compensated power, lens durability and abrasion resistance, and anti-reflective lens requirements.
