COLOR ME OKO

Two longtime friends (and opticians), Philip and David Zeitoun Beddok, are the co-founders and managing partners of the French eyewear design OKO Eyewear Group, which they created in Paris in 1999. Distributed in the U.S. by RED88 Eyewear Distributing, Inc., the OKO by OKO Paris collection is a unique blend of quality materials and manufacturing (plus some really hip styling and colors). Most of the frames are Italian- or French-made and incorporate high-quality acetate and stainless steel. The acetates feature some really cool color laminates, and some forward and retro designs.

THE DETAILS
In the classic collection, one of my favorites is Style No. ZD 16, a cord-mounted, semi-rimless metal with a totally wild openwork temple treatment, and fun colors for women. The lenses float on the cord mounting, providing a minimalist look. Two-toned temple colors give the frames an interesting and colorful side view.

A bestseller, Style No. Ben 17, features a free-floating cord-mounted semi-rimless front and a unique temple that has spirals and swoops for that extra punch of style. The browline is bold and curvy. This women’s frame comes in four hot colors (I like the red) and makes a major fashion statement.

Another cord-mounted semi-rimless, women’s Style No. Ben 15 has an interesting little “flip” on the endpiece. Again, the colors are fabulous, and the temple detailing makes it interesting from every view.

Style No. CAC 16 shows just how much can be done with acetate. The shape is a modified oval, which is good for those who aren’t ready for the full cat-eye look of the ’60s but want something retro and colorful. There are four gorgeous colors, and some include contrasting temples. I particularly like the tortoise front with crystal brown temples. This style can work for women and men.

With quality materials and manufacturing along with on-trend styling and colors, the OKO by OKO Paris collection promises to be a hit in the U.S.
