VSP SURVEYS PARENTS
ON BLUE LIGHT
Six years. That’s the amount of time average American children will have spent looking at digital devices by the time they reach age 17, according
to findings from a new survey by VSP Vision Care. The survey,
Blue Light Exposure: Should You Be Concerned? found that more than half of the
1,000 parents surveyed didn’t know (or barely know) about the dangers of blue light, which include digital eyestrain, melatonin suppression and possible vision loss. What’s more, only 13% of parents ranked vision as the top concern of their children’s digital device usage, and only 10% have taken steps to reduce exposure.
