Bollé’s roots are in the small town of Oyonnax, nestled on the edge of the French Alps. It’s here in 1888 that Seraphin Bollé and his son began the company by making combs and hair accessories from materials native to the region. By the mid-20th century, safety glasses and goggles became the mainstay of the business, with ski goggles and sports-performance eyewear following shortly thereafter. To this day, Bollé continues to create eyewear with a mix of cutting-edge technology and pure intuition as evidenced in the new sports-performance Marine Sun Collection.
ON THE WATER
Perfect for the water sports enthusiast who enjoys fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and other water sports, Marine sunglasses combine safety and style. Their polarized lenses are essential for any activity in or around the water as they eliminate glare reflecting off the water’s surface.
The 15 styles in the Marine collection have an 8-base curve and, according to the company, are made from the finest nylon available. Twelve are Rxable and progressive compatible. They incorporate Thermogrip temple tips and nosepads for a secure and comfortable fit. Marine frames are strong, lightweight, and flexible. Several have pinless hinges that seamlessly connect the temples to frame fronts, eliminating mechanisms that can break down, thus making them suitable for active adults.
for large faces, Barracuda is a big, bold wrap frame with a rounded rectangular shape that sports super-wide temples with a tampered lower edge that gives it a sleek look. Chase uses rounded corners for the lenses in this rectangular semi-rimless frame that flaunts sporty striping down the length of its medium-width temples. Vitesse has a lightweight chassis that supports its semi-rimless lenses—it’s more like a goggle than a sunglass. The sleek-looking design makes the frame appear to be one piece. It’s super light in weight and provides expansive visual coverage.
Offshore Blue and Inland Gold combine anti-glare polarized technology and a hydrophobic treatment that repels water, fights smudging, and resists contaminants such as sunscreen and skin oils.
The Offshore Blue lenses are a neutral gray with a metallic blue mirror and a polarizing filter. They provide all-day comfort from the harsh sunlight of the open water. The Inland Gold lenses are high-contrast amber with a metallic gold flash mirror, perfect in low light conditions. Both provide 100% UVA/UVB protection as well as a clear view under the water’s surface.
In addition to a countercard that depicts vibrant photos of sports activists wearing these dynamic frames, Bollé provides a Marine kit that includes a three-piece merchandiser, brochure holder and brochures, logo plaque, polarizing demo, and branded floating key chains. Each frame comes with a floating neck strap and a one-year warranty.
The Marine collection joins three other activity-specific sunglass collections offered by Bollé: EagleVision (golf), CompetiVision (tennis), and a subset of its Performance series for competitive cyclists and runners. With the new Marine collection, water sports enthusiasts can enjoy their passion with visual clarity, comfort, and protection.
